Short Description ![]() | Pentalofos is one of the oldest and most numerous communities in the metropolitan area of Neapolis and Stavroupolis with local people (in the early 20th century it numbered about 700 inhabitants).
The original church (a three-aisled wooden-roofed basilica of the 18th or 19th century) was located in the same place as the modern homonymous parish church. Its construction and interior decoration lasted seven years (1965-1972). In the newly built church of Pentalophos there is one of the most important collections of post-Byzantine icons of Thessaloniki with great stylistic and iconographic interest, as these icons come from different artistic workshops in the region, known from other works - published or not- in churches and monasteries in Macedonia. |
